Composition

Each soft gelatin capsule of PHOSPHOSIL contains:

Usage

PHOSPHOSIL is useful for fatty liver as in alcoholism, toxic liver damage, acute viral hepatitis and intoxications, chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis.

Actions

Phospholipids (in PHOSPHOSIL) supply ready-to-use phospholipids to restore liver membrane cell structure and its fluidity. This is associated with dramatic enhancement of passive permeability which ensures adequate supply of nutrition to liver. All the 4 essential phospholipds – phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylserine, phosphatidylinositol, are available in PHOSPHOSIL.

In addition, phospholipids (in PHOSPHOSIL) encourage energy manufacture by mitochondria, restore functioning of enzyme systems and reverse the inflammatory damage to the liver.

Silymarin (in PHOSPHOSIL) exerts a hepatoprotective effect. It also interacts with cell membrane phospholipids to alters membrane characteristics and inhibit uptake and transport of hepatotoxic substances. Additionally, silymarin (in PHOSPHOSIL) acts a powerful antioxidant due to its phenolic nature and thereby tackles the free radicals implicated in mediating liver damage.

Side Effects

PHOSPHOSIL is generally well tolerated. It may infrequently cause gastrointestinal side effects, headache, pruritus, joint pain, weakness or allergic manifestations.

Precautions

The usefulness of PHOSPHOSIL in children has not been established. PHOSPHOSIL is not to be taken during pregnancy and lactation, or by those hypersensitive to any of its ingredients or soya.

Recommended Intake

ADULTS: 1-2 PHOSPHOSIL soft gelatin caps 2-3 times daily after meals. In chronic liver disease, the intake could be reduced to 1-2 PHOSPHOSIL soft gelatin caps daily for long term maintenance after initial recovery has occurred.

The duration of PHOSPHOSIL intake depends on the specific liver disorder; in chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis PHOSPHOSIL may be required to be taken for months or even years.
