Usage

_{RESTEP REGULAR is indicated for treatment and prophylaxis of osteoarthritis. It may be taken alongwith analgesics / NSAIDs initially if necessary. RESTEP REGULAR can play a useful role in the prevention of traumatic arthritis in athletes, and others with active lifestyles.}

Actions

Glucosamine and chondroitin (in RESTEP REGULAR) increase glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) synthesis. GAGs are necessary for proteoglycan production which constitutes the cartilage matrix and is responsible for the latter’s elasticity. Manganese (in RESTEP REGULAR) is required for the activity of the enzyme galactosyltransferase I that is essential for GAG synthesis. Glucosamine (in RESTEP REGULAR) also stimulates hyaluronic acid synthesis which is responsible for the viscosity of synovial fluid resulting in frictionless joint movements. Glucosamine as well as chondroitin (in RESTEP REGULAR) additionally inhibits cartilage damage by antagonizing destructive free radicals, enzymes and inflammatory mediators. Magnesium (in RESTEP REGULAR) acts as a catalyst for glucosamine activity.

Vitamin C (in RESTEP REGULAR) facilitates collagen synthesis by chondrocytes. Since collagen contributes equally to the cartilage substance, as proteoglycans, vitamin C is a vital ingredient of RESTEP REGULAR. Silicon (in RESTEP REGULAR) cross-links the proteoglycans and collagen so as to provide stability as well as resilience to cartilage matrix.

Methyl sulfonyl methane (in RESTEP REGULAR) relieves pain in osteoarthritis especially post-exercise pain and cramping.

Vitamins C & E, manganese, zinc and selenium (in RESTEP REGULAR) afford adequate antioxidant protection to the joint structures.

Boron (in RESTEP REGULAR) is an effective measure for reliving arthritic pain and associated discomfort. Its regular intake can reduce the risk of developing osteoarthritis.

Side Effects

The ingredients of RESTEP REGULAR have little or no risk of side effects. The only significant complaints could be gastrointestinal intolerance, especially nausea.

Both chondroitin sulfate and GAG polysulfate share a heparinoid structure. Hence, there is a theoretical possibility of RESTEP REGULAR causing prolongation of bleeding time.

Precautions

RESTEP REGULAR should be used in pregnancy and lactation only if the possible benefits outweigh the probable adverse effects of its ingredients. The usefulness of RESTEP REGULAR ingredients in children has not been established. RESTEP REGULAR is not to be taken by those hypersensitive to any of its ingredients.

Recommended Intake

The contents of RESTEP REGULAR Sachet are to be mixed with a glass of chilled water and drunk. It requires 2-4 weeks for effects with RESTEP REGULAR to be apparent.

INITIALLY: 1 RESTEP REGULAR Sachet thrice daily for minimum 3 months.

MAINTENANCE / PROPHYLAXIS: 1 RESTEP Regular Sachet once daily.
